From CNEWS:

Amsterdam hosted a Christmas celebration for its gay community Sunday featuring a nativity tableau with a male Mary in drag that church organizations denounced as an affront to traditional values. Organizers said the event was meant to raise Amsterdam’s profile as a gay capital at a time when homosexuals feel threatened.

Christians for Truth, an independent religious group, had asked the city council to cancel the “Pink Christmas,” event, saying it made a mockery of Christian tenets. The city did not comment…

Focus on the Family Promotes Mormon Glenn Beck at CitizenLink

December 22, 2008

From Christian Newswire:

Contact: Steve McConkey, Underground Apologetics, 608-469-7956

MADISON, Wisc., Dec. 22 /Christian Newswire/ — Focus on the Family has a story on Glenn Beck, a Mormon, on their CitizenLink Website. Glenn Beck was a CNN host and will move to Fox News in January. Beck is currently promoting his book, “The Christmas Sweater.” The CitizenLink story focuses on Beck’s faith and why he wrote “The Christmas Sweater.”

While Glenn’s social views are compatible with many Christian views, his beliefs in Mormonism are not. Clearly, Mormonism is a cult. The CitizenLink story does not mention Beck’s Mormon faith, however, the story makes it look as if Beck is a Christian who believes in the essential doctrines of the faith.

Through the years, Focus on the Family has done great things to help the family and has brought attention to the many social ills that are attacking the family.

However, to promote a Mormon as a Christian is not helpful to the cause of Jesus Christ. For Christians to influence society, Christians should be promoting the central issues of the faith properly without opening the door to false religions.

Some of the false doctrines of Mormonism include polytheism, an attack on the trinity, that Jesus was the spirit-brother of Lucifer, that God the Father is married to Mother God, temple baptisms for the dead, the Bible has missing parts and many errors.

Christians are to stand up against the social ills of society, however, we are to put Christ first and His essential biblical truths. Steve McConkey, Underground Apologetics, says, “If we claim to be Christians, we do not need to compromise our central doctrinal truths to win the culture war. Instead, we need to promote essential truths first and the battle to win the culture wars will flow from that. We should not cease to be ministries that promote Christian truth because God is bigger than all of us.”

Underground Apologetics is a ministry that shows people how to defend their faith against beliefs that are contrary to Christianity. Underground Apologetics is supported by 4 WINDS, a ministry for track and field athletes. Steve McConkey is the president and founder of 4 WINDS. They have ministered at the USA Championships, the Olympic Trials, and the Olympics.

The Underground Apologetics site can be found at www.UndergroundApologetics.org.

God Bless Operation Rescue

December 22, 2008

I want to give a Slice Salute today to the men and women of Operation Rescue in Wichita, Kansas. These Christians minister, day in and day out, speaking and acting on behalf of the preborn who are being slaughtered in this country, 1.7 million every year. The victories that are won are rarely reported. They are trashed by fellow Christians who sneeringly deride this “tactic” or that. These, notably, are Christians who do nothing for the cause of the preborn.

OR has posted the Top Ten News Stories of this year, and when you read them, you will see how fierce the battle for life really is. The photograph of the mother walking in for a late term abortion took my breath away. Yes, women actually do this to their own babies. Praise God for Operation Rescue and its leaders, Troy Newman and Cheryl Sullenger. Godspeed.

Joseph Farah Blasts Rick Warren for Obama Invocation

December 22, 2008

Joseph Farah skipped the nicey nice today and just said it like it is. It’s about time for some plain speech. In this open letter to Rick Warren, published at WorldnetDaily this morning, Farah holds nothing back about Rick Warren’s outrageous agreement to provide the invocation for Barack Obama.

John the Baptist didn’t whimper around about “praying for those in authority” like Rick Warren has, as cover for self-promotion and thinly veiled political ambition. John the Baptist rebuked King Herod for his adultery. Then again, he lost his head for it. There is no danger of Rick Warren losing his head for what he’s about to do. Three resounding cheers to Joseph Farah for publicly stating the obvious about Warren’s fawning sycophancy of Barack Obama. He begins his letter with this excellent sentence:

“I’m writing to share my profound and abject revulsion at your agreement to offer the invocation at the inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama as president Jan. 20.”

Mr. Farah, your revulsion is shared.

Subverting the Word of God

Marsha West begins her latest article by pointing out:

Recently we learned that President Bush, an evangelical Christian, doesn’t take the Bible literally. During an interview ABC’s Cynthia McFadden asked him if the Bible is literally true and he replied “probably not.” He said he does believe you can learn a lot from the Bible, “but I do think that the New Testament for example is … has got … You know, the important lesson is ‘God sent a son.’” [1] Important lesson?

No, Mr. President, the New Testament contains Good News…and “the important lesson” is not that “God sent a son,” it’s the reason He sent His Son. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16)… President Bush’s answer was a huge let down for true Christians… Our president obviously lacks a clear understanding of Christianity.

“I’m Her Biggest Fan!” Rick Warren Gushes About Gay Activist

December 22, 2008

rick1Rick Warren’s bizarre dance would be funny to watch if the issues involved weren’t so serious. He showed up, as reported here at Slice, at the Muslim convention on Saturday, full of advice for Purpose-Driven Islamists. Those who were under the misapprehension that he was there to preach the Gospel to the lost can now disabuse themselves of the notion, because he didn’t. Warren told the Muslim attendees:

“You don’t have to see eye to eye to walk hand in hand.”

That’s true, Rick. It’s called the blind leading the blind, and guess where they both end up? Amos 3:3 asks the obvious questions, “Can two walk together unless they agree?” II Corinthians 6:14-15 tells us not to be yoked together with unbelievers. Non-believers are on a path to hell, believers in Jesus Christ are not. How exactly do you hold the hand of an unregenerate who has rejected Jesus Christ and walk together through life, when you are headed to two different places? Love for the lost is one thing, but you share the Gospel, you don’t follow them to hell, holding hands.

Rick Warren didn’t stop with that in his oratory before the Muslim gathering. He then began to assure his audience that he is a “huge” fan of gay activist and singer, Melissa Etheridge, who had performed earlier that evening, and announced that he has all her albums. He went farther to disclose that Ms. Etheridge has even signed her Christmas album for him!

Rick was in overdrive to prove his pro-gay credentials after the negative press from some radical activists who don’t like his presence at Obama’s Inaugural blow-out. The bizarre dance I referred to earlier is exactly that. Rick has his PR guy zap out a few conservative press releases to prove his pro-family, evangelical credentials just prior to doing the Inaugural invocation for America’s most radical President in history. Then, when the predictable flak starts coming in from gays, he dances toward them and shows up at a Muslim convention gushing about how much he loves gays and especially the music of an outspoken gay activist. Then Rick dances back to Saddleback in time for Fox’s Christmas service and to do a Purpose-Driven Christmas, and then back to Obama’s Inauguration to once again prove his left credentials. Do the hop, do the hop, do the Purpose-Driven hop. One minute he’s one thing, the next minute another. Don’t blink, or you’ll miss his next move. He’s left, he’s right, he’s pro-gay, he’s anti-gay, he’s social gospel, he isn’t social gospel, he’s beyond left and right, right and wrong, up and down, in or out. He’s the new breed, a Transformational Man, unlimited by the constraints of God’s Word and logic. Rick Warren truly is all things to all people, a man, friends, for all seasons.

World Net Daily To Rick Warren: Don’t Bless the Slaughter of The Unborn

December 22, 2008

Click the post title to be taken to the source.

Joseph Farah shares a recent letter he sent to Southern Baptist pastor Rick Warren. Farah asks why would Warren participate in the presidential inauguration full well knowing that president-elect Obama promotes the wholesale slaughter of innocent human beings.

Barack Obama is opposed to any and all restrictions on the killing of unborn children and has pledged to work against the few that remain. In fact, as a state legislator in Illinois, he pushed a law that would require the killing of babies born alive after unsuccessful abortions.

I would hope you, a pastor of the gospel of Jesus Christ, would also call that evil.

I’m trying to imagine Jesus giving an invocation at the inauguration of such a man. I think you will agree, it’s unimaginable.

So why are you ready, willing and eager to do this thing?

See the rest of Joseph Farah’s call for Rick Warren to “decide whether he stands with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob or if he stands with the world and his “friend,” Barack Hussein Obama.”
