This is actually a compilation of five videos that I have already posted, but, since I can now post longer videos, I figured I would make this into one for you to share with others or for those who haven’t seen it yet to watch in one sitting.
This is the full mini-documentary on the confusion of the church and theater called “That’s Entertainment!” There are video clips from different “services” throughout our land and the commentary is from the folk at the White Horse Inn.

Quote of the Day: Machen on Controversies

J. Gresham Machen was known for his defense of Scriptural truth. In a 1932 speech, Machen addressed those who made the claim that it is not loving to be discerning, and that we should never point out error or speak out against falsehood. Machen refers to one specific instance where a professor was challenging his students to avoid the controversies of the Bible and rather focus on the wonderul passage about love in 1 Corinthians 13. Machen responded this way:
In reply, I am bound to say that the example was singularly ill-chosen. That hymn to Christian love is in the midst of a great polemic passage; it would never have been written if Paul had been opposed to controversy with error in the Church. It was because his soul was stirred within him by a wrong use of the spiritual gifts that he was able to write that glorious hymn. So it is always in the Church. Every really great Christian utterance, it may almost be said, is born in controversy. It is when men have felt compelled to take a stand against error that they have risen to the really great heights in the celebration of truth.

What’s Up, Ray Comfort?

Ken Silva at Apprising Ministries and Ingrid Schlueter at Slice of Laodicea disagree with Ray’s practice of participating in some conferences where he will be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with health and wealth heretics on the same stage. The more surprising thing is that this is not the first time that Ray has done this.
Having observed Ray’s ministry, I can say without much doubt that I know that he will strive to preach the Gospel as it is without hesitation. However, the issue here is not whether he will preach the Gospel, but whether Ray, whose radio show has on many occasions decried the practices of such heretics and their errant doctrines, should be seen to be in league with these heretics by his participation in such conferences.
